Much Ado About Updos

Updo, upstyle, or special event styling, it all means arranging the hair instead of letting it fall freely. It can be as simple as a ponytail, but is usually associated with elaborate styles intended for special occasions.

What is your special occasion? A wedding, pageant, date night, work event, or the holiday parties that are soon to be upon us? The holidays are a busy, yet wonderful time of year. It is when we see old friends, visit with family, party with fellow employees, wear/buy glamorous clothing for all the special events, and the best part is that there are tons of pictures taken… oh, the pictures… we have to look fabulous!

So much focus is on gift giving during the holiday season and while that is great and fun, many of us do not take the time to treat ourselves in the midst of all of the hard work involved in the holiday madness. Taking time to sit down, have a glass of wine and let a talented hair designer beautifully style your hair for your special event is the perfect way to pamper yourself.

When planning your special occasion attire, here are some things to think about: Is the event you are attending casual, semi formal, or formal to very formal? Will this event be indoors or outdoors? Do you plan on dancing? (Hope so!) Are there any special guests you really want to impress? (Come on! We are all guilty of it!) What kind of impression do you intend to make?

That leads us into the next big question…What is your style? How can we personify YOU and highlight your best traits? Some key words to use when explaining your style and desires are: curly, sleek, polished, braids, volume, natural, tousled, glamorous, effortless, funky, twist, classic, or suggest an era in which you are inspired by the trends. Do you have any celebrity inspiration? (We love pictures!)

Now the creative juices are flowing and a vision is forming. Your hair that was once a blank canvas will soon be a beautiful work of art that compliments your gorgeous dress, matching shoes, shiny jewelry, and delightful holiday spirit. You are all set to make quite the impression on friends, family, and coworkers as you wrap up 2012 and start 2013.

As an eager and extremely passionate artist I encourage all of you fun ladies to come see me and allow me to help you not only stand out in the crowd, but also discover how well your style can be represented by the artistic placement I can provide to the hair you have been blessed with. — Nicky
